Our Current Sermon Series: Defining Our Faith
All of the letters in the New Testament to
some degree are written to address heresy (wrong teachings) that had crept into
the church. Jude in his short little letter to the early Christian Church had
wanted to write to believers about the great salvation that they had in Christ
Jesus but felt compelled to write exhorting the believers to contend earnestly
for the faith.
As it was then it is today. False teachings
continue to pour into the church and lead many people astray. There is nothing
static in the life of the church. There is always a process of change and of
development, and unfortunately, as is true in nature, the process is generally
one of degeneration.
So we must, as the first reformers did,
continually go back to the only authority that we have and constantly remind
ourselves of the truth. Our world is one that is getting darker and darker and
it needs to see and hear the light of God's truth - only His truth will bring
hope to our dark world.
